When it comes to safety one can never be to careful. A moonshine still should never build pressure and in the event that something got plugged or badly restricted bad things might happen.
Install one of these simple pop-off valves in your column and if pressure did build for some unknown reason the device would quickly open to vent pressure alerting you to a unforeseen problem before it got out of hand.
The pressure relief has 1/8" male NPT on the side that threads into your column and it is set at 5 psi. This relief valve was manufactured to be used with a moonshine still. Get one and be safe!
